Biography

Nick is a second-generation Russian immigrant to the United States and has lived in San Francisco since birth. His abilities manifested at puberty and he was scouted by Invictus, joining the Gatekeepers right out of high school.

Excerpt from Redemption

The four of us moved toward the beach. Miss Fire and Starburst reached it first. Fortunately, the arm refracted enough sunlight to be detected. Miss Fire immediately shot flame blasts at it. Icecap sent a fusillade of sharp icicles toward it. And Starburst… well, I’m not sure what the hell his blasts are, but they penetrated deeply, leaving a trail of sparkles behind.

Preparing to test the limits of my telekinetic abilities, I reached out with my mind and gripped the arm, slowing it, and eventually holding it mostly still in the air. But I couldn’t do it for long. It was simply too massive.

I lowered myself to stand on the beach, as this was taking all my strength. The others were doing their best, while I was fading fast. Then Icecap succeeded in freezing a small cross-section of it about twenty feet above the water, which Starburst then hit with a blast. The section shattered, leaving me holding the rest of the arm. With great effort, I managed to push away from the lagoon as it fell with an enormous splash, missing the beach by mere yards. This took almost every bit of strength I had remaining. They were on their own to battle the remaining stump of the arm.
